There's nothing quite as disappointing as settling in for a cozy evening, only to have your candle burn out far too soon. But fear not, this "forever burning" candle is easy to make, smells AMAZING, and lasts a really long time!
How to make a forever burning candle
Here's a simple DIY project idea from the YouTube channel "Simple & Fast" that's easy to do and uses common kitchen materials.
You can customize it into a decorative candle by adding gemstones, pearls, or other items in different colors and shapes. Plus, it smells great and can make your room smell lovely.
Materials:
- Glass cup
- Gemstones, shells, pearls, or acrylic diamonds (in your preferred color)
- Oil (olive, sunflower, etc.)
- Essential oil (in your preferred scent)
- Plastic bottle or metal can
- Cutter
- Scissors
- Soldering iron, hot screw, or knife
- Tissue paper
Directions:
Step 1
- Clean and dry a glass cup.
- Place a few gemstones, shells, pearls, or acrylic diamonds at the bottom.
- Add water until the gemstones are covered.
- Pour oil on top until almost full, leaving about an inch of space.
- Add a few drops of essential oil.
- Cut off the bottom of a plastic bottle or metal can (I prefer metal can as plastic might melt), then trim it thinner with scissors.
- Use a soldering iron or another tool to poke a small hole in the center.
Step 2
- Tear a piece of tissue paper into smaller strips.
- Roll a strip thinly and tightly.
- Insert the rolled tissue through the bottom of the plastic or metal piece with the hole.
- Cut off any excess tissue at the bottom.
- Moisten the tip of the tissue in the oil and let it swell.
- Place the plastic or metal piece on top of the oil, ensuring the wick doesn’t touch the water.
