“Help, my brother peed in my oven!”

"So my brother had a late night of drinking a few nights ago and ended up sleep-walking at 5am. I walked out to the kitchen to find him taking a pee inside the oven.

Long story short he cleaned it up but it still has the smell of urine when the oven is turned on.

Just wondering how to properly clean it/get the smell out of there?"

How To Finally Neutralize Stubborn Urine Odors

Urine smells are notoriously stubborn due to the presence of urea, a compound that releases ammonia as it breaks down.

Ammonia is what causes the strong, unpleasant odor associated with urine.

Traditional cleaning methods often struggle to fully eliminate urine smells because they don't effectively neutralize the ammonia molecules.

The best way to neutralize urine smells is the use of white vinegar, which is acidic and works to neutralize alkaline ammonia molecules.

Vinegar penetrates deep into the oven's interior, breaking down the urine residue and neutralizing the odor at its source.

Step-By-Step Guide To Getting Rid Of Urine Odor From Your Oven

Here's a step-by-step guide to tackle the issue:

  1. Start by unplugging the oven to ensure safety.
  2. Remove the oven racks and any other removable parts.
  3. Mix a solution of equal parts water and white vinegar in a spray bottle.
  4. Spray the interior of the oven generously with the vinegar solution.
  5. Let the solution sit for at least 15-20 minutes to break down the odor.
  6. Use a sponge or cloth to wipe down the interior, focusing on areas where the urine odor is concentrated.
  7. Rinse the interior thoroughly with clean water to remove any vinegar residue.
  8. For stubborn odors, sprinkle baking soda over the affected areas and let it sit overnight.
  9. The next day, wipe away the baking soda with a damp cloth.
  10. Allow the oven to air dry completely before plugging it back in and using it again.

By following these steps, you should be able to effectively clean the oven and remove the urine smell.
